Bases
HBG is a ranged weapon using ammos that can be bought at the General Store or crafted. Each HBG can use different ammos and has a reload speed, recoil and deviation parameter tied to each of said ammo, impacting its shooting performances. Using skills linked to these mechanics can improve the weapon performances.
Each ammo type has a critical range, Frontier indicating this range with a shiny effect on the ammo while it’s traveling through the air. Shooting at critical range will increase your ammo damage by 50%
| Ammo | Critical Range |
|---|---|
| Normal | Near to mid-distance |
| Piercing | Mid to long-distance |
| Pellet | Point-blank |
| Others | No critical range |
HBG has long ammo clips and hit hard but has limited mobility. In this game, it can compress its ammo to shoot them all in one unique shot.
HBG can also use modifiers that can be equiped at the Workshop:
- Shield: allows you to block when at neutral (not that popular in Frontiera)
- Power Barrel: increase attack
- Adaptative Aim: allows to adjust the zoom level when in first person aiming
Earth Style
Frontier HBG can do a compressed reload if you time your reload right. All the ammos are then load in one single shot. Each ammo type has its own compressed shot multiplier and obviously the shot power is based on how many ammos are compressed at once.
Gou and superior HBG can equip a special modifier instead of the Shield, the Heat Beam. This is materialized as a gauge under your ammos that fills with each shot (aside from Normal Lvl 1 shots). The gauge also empties itself over time. Once the gauge is filled, you can load the HBG special ammo and fire a laser similar to the Gravios one.
Heaven Style
Heaven Style allows you to chain up to 2 side steps after a shot.
Storm Style
Storm Style allows you to charge your shots. A non charged shot only deals 95% of its base damage, making it weaker than other styles. But charged shots deal 115, 130 and finally 150% when fully charged.
Extreme Style
Extreme Style cancels the Storm Style nerf to non-charged shots, bringing them back to 100% damage.
Like every weapon, HBG can run in Extreme Style, a huge buff to its limited mobility. It can also reload while running but a compressed reload will interrupt your run.
HBG has now the extreme gauge. It can be cumulated with Gou and superior HBG Heat Beam gauge and works on similar bases, accumulating heat with your shots (aside from Normal lvl1 ones). But it will only accumulate charge if you’re in the same area as a big monster (you do not need to engage though) et doesn’t empties itself over time.
Extreme gauge allows you to do a jumping dodge similar to Tonfas by consuming a little amount of energy. Once the gauge is full, you can charge and unleash the Extreme Heat Beam, more powerful than the regular one but also longer in duration.
Daily bonus
The Daily bonus increase the critical range multiplier by 10%.
