Basis

With a limited mobility, Lance uses its big shield to block the monster attacks. It can hold its grounds using precise thrusts to focus a monster’s part, the last hit of the combo dealing bonus damage. In Frontier, lance can even protect a zone and the allies staying within said zone.

Lance has a unique property making it ajust the hitzone it uses between slicing and blunt damage. It inflicts damage using the better hitzone between the slicing one or the blunt one with a 0,72 multiplier. Ex:

  • Slicing hitzone : 20
  • Blunt hitzone: 35

35 X 0,72 = 25. The adjusted blunt hitzone being better than the slicing one, Lance will deal damage to a 25 hitzone instead of the original 20 one.

Earth Style

Frontier Lance has a new charged attack. It can be used to move forward even without charging it.

Lance guard has new options. Aside from the ability to move left and right or backwards and forwards, it can use a power guard just like in World, consuming your stamina but granting you Guard +2 and allowing you to block at 360°, even non-blockable attacks. Note that you still get pushed on the ground if you get hit in the back but the damage is cancelled. You can also move while in power guard.

You can also guard a zone around you. This special guard consume your stamina and define an area around you. It is linked to 2 shields near your sharpness bar. If one of your ally is hit in the zone, you’ll consume a shield and your ally will be shielded. The Guard skill increases the number of shields, Guard +1 granting 2 additional shields while Guard +2 grants you at total of 4 more. Note that all the shields are consumed when you exit zone guarding, no matter how many hits were endured by your allies. They take some time to regenerate. You can’t move during that special guarding state.

Heaven Style

Heaven Style replaces the charge with almost vertical thrusts. You can also chain up to 4 thrusts instead of 3.

Storm Style

Storm Style replaces the guard thrust with a shield charge. This is a guard point, granting you Guard +2 and cancelling any damage endured. The shield hit deals stun damage, making it able to knockdown the monster.

Extreme Style

Like every weapon, Lance can run in Extreme Style. It introduces a new jumping thrust and the ability to deal shield hits without stopping your run. The shield attack is a guard point just like the Storm Style shield charge, granting you Guard +2 and cancelling any damage endured.

You can also use a powerful thrust during your combos, way stronger than the base ones with a 91 MV but stopping the combo.

You can also do a retreat thrust, jumping backwards to disengage the monster.

Last and rather special mechanic, you have 3 shields under the zone guard ones. These shields get charged when blocking monster attacks. Each shield is a buff, these adding up between themselves (if you trigger the red buff, you also get the white and yellow buffs). Pressing Select will trigger every buff charged in an area around you:

  • white shield: area heal
  • yellow shield: unlimited stamina effect
  • red shield: 50 raw attack buff

Keep in mind the buffs also affect your allies, including players using Heroics. Also, DB players under Extreme Demon Mode aren’t affected.

Daily bonus

The Daily bonus grants an additional level to the Guard skill. If also grant Reflect +3, a skill adding a 48 MV hit in front of your shield when you block.
